America, the Grim Reaper

Considering the worldwide impact of the failing American economy due to the Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac scandals, I thought this pic is representative.

America, The Grim Reaper

The pic was taken in good fun, and had nothing to do with the economic downturn (or anti-Americanism, for that matter), but supports a fraternity that adopted the States as a figurehead. This is just the odd humour of Chilean youth, that somehow is able to associate a pitchfork holding Grim Reaper with supporting a fraternity –and by extension being pro-American.

I’m afraid, not much makes sense here in Chile. I’m often made to recall what an University of Alberta graduate had to say about teaching ESL in the orient, “Everything is ass backwards!”.
